Information The Sarasota Folk Music Festival was born 9 years ago in 2001 at a chance meeting between the Crowley museum folks, "We are thinking about having a folk festival to bring people out to Crowley" and Folk Club folks, "We've been thinking about creating a festival that would feature the talented folk musicians from the Sarasota area." The festival ran for five years out at the Crowley Museum as an all day festival featuring three staged area of music with craft vendors, food vendors and ecofriendly education booths. In in 2009, we moved the festival to Oscar Scherer State Park in Osprey, FL. and extended it to two full days of music. The Sarasota Folk and Acoustic Music Festival is now staged each year at the Oscar Scherer State Park in late March. We run three stages of music all day from 11am to 5pm (Sat) and 11am to 4pm (Sun), with a jam tent for aspiring musicians and a workshop tent for those seeking up-close and personal tips and instructions from their favorite artists. Saturday evening we set the stage for our headliner artists to showcase in the large tent for our evening concert 6pm - 10pm.
We have a children's area with workshops and fun events, right next to the park's excellent playground and our Family Stage. We have folklife exhibits and quality vendors selling crafts and art as well as plenty of food vendors to satisfy the growling tummy. This coming year, 2012, the festival is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, March 24th and 25th.Come enjoy this two day community folk event at the best park in the State of Florida!
